The Show supports 175 Classes and the total number of exhibits was a staggering 647, with, of course, many exhibitors showing in many classes and others showing in just one class. The standard of exhibits, across the whole range - flowers and plants, vegetables, floral art, arts and crafts, cookery - continues to astound. What an incredibly talented lot we are! And that includes many of our younger people who work so hard over their lovely exhibits and show them with such pride. I know that you will be aware of
the existence, since last November, of the Flower Show Support Group, whose
purpose is to support the Flower Show Committee with the finances, security and
physical workload aspects of staging the Show every year. Huge
congratulations, and the very grateful thanks of the Flower Show Committee, are
due to them for their efforts, particularly with regard to their very successful
fundraising. It is a great relief to know that the Show will now have, for
the next few years at least, a much more secure financial position.
Liz Maunder, Show Secretary FLOWER SHOW THANKS. It is almost impossible to know where to start with the thanks for the huge efforts which members of the Flower Show Support Group put in for the Flower Show and all those who helped with the many activities. The whole year’s income should exceed £6,000. The Americans have a word which, I think, reflects our success - ‘Awesome’! FLOWER SHOW STALWARTS. A big ‘Thank You’ from the village goes to Liz and Stuart Maunder for all their tireless work for the Flower Show, helping to make it all run so smoothly and successfully. A lot of what they do is ‘behind the scenes’ but essential, and is very much appreciated. THANKS ANDY I would like to express my
personal thanks to Andy Jacobs for the immense amount of work he put in to
galvanise us all to make such a super weekend. Although the money is very
important, I feel the village atmosphere has benefited from his efforts. I
would like to propose he is given the award of Fellow of Norton (FoN).
CONGRATULATIONS, ANDY!! John Ashton
